Our Judea – same culture, same place

Our Judea is one step beyond our Jerusalem. It is the way we corporately as a church share Christ with others by starting new worship services in the DMV area. In 2015, Great Commission launched two services at two locations – Arlington and Tysons. Led by the Spirit, it may be possible that other services and locations will be added so members can be more intentional about reaching their geographic region for Christ.

PRAY – Great Commission’s members are encouraged to regularly pray for their ONE person. Additionally, these ONE’s are prayed for at monthly mission prayer meetings. Also as appropriate, small groups are encouraged to share their ONE’s with each other so they can pray together for others. Special prayer times are also organized for transitions to multiple service times and locations (Judea project).

GIVE – Sharing Jesus with friends, neighbors and family may not cost much monetarily, but it still costs something. Members are encouraged to give high amounts of time, in love, to share Christ in the context of personal relationships. It can also mean one-on-one Bible studies and discussions about Jesus. Because sharing Jesus is not a program, but a lifestyle, it is not easily quantified, but still requires radical generosity.

GO – The Great Commission given by Jesus has the imperative verb “GO”; however, the Greek for GO really means “as you are going.” We encourage all Great Commission members to be sent as lights for Jesus in their workplaces, neighborhoods and other circles of influence.

ENCOURAGE – Growing a lifestyle focused on sharing Christ requires frequent amounts of training and encouragement. Consequently, best practices in sharing Jesus with others is frequently taught in Sunday worship services, in Discipleship Intensive classes (including a course specifically taught on Personal Evangelism) and encouraged by pastors and small group leaders. We also encourage each other in small groups and in accountability groups to share Jesus wherever we go.
