Membership to Great Commission Community Church (GCCC) is one way of showing your commitment and support to the local church by participating in corporate worship, walking alongside brothers and sisters in Christ, participating in a common mission as well as receiving the full benefits of being under the church’s care, guidance (Acts 20:28), and accountability (Hebrews 13:17). Membership also gives you a voice and a vote on important issues affecting the church by participating in key meetings regarding vision, budgeting, staffing, and programming.
There are usually two main members meetings per year, when key items are presented, discussed, and brought to the members for a vote. The Governance Board sends an agenda prior to the meetings with supplementary information related to the items that will be discussed.
Membership classes are usually offered once in the first half of the year and once in the latter part of the year and involve attending one class session on Sunday before or after service at either the Tysons or Arlington location. After providing some information about yourself and your experience as a believer (regardless of how long you’ve come to know Christ), an elder will follow up with an informal interview and answer any questions you may have about membership. Please note that applying for membership is not obligatory after attending membership class, but the class is a great way of learning more about the church.
