“Whom Does AI Serve?”
AI is increasingly coming to touch more areas of our lives, promising abundance, efficiency, and progress. Yet its benefits and burdens are distributed and built on long-standing structures of inequality–of labor, wealth, and content—and exploitation—of the environment, personal data, intellectual property.
How should the Church approach AI? Are there theologically informed visions of how AI can help us to serve the Church’s work of healing and liberation, or does AI inherently serve the forces that concentrate human power and wealth?
GCCC’s Race and Justice Ministry Team (RJMT) is hosting a discussion led by Dr. Jonathan Tran, a leading theologian working in philosophy, politics, and ethics, and the author of Asian Americans and the Spirit of Racial Capitalism.
This will take place at the AC Hotel in Crystal City, on Sunday July 19 at 1pm (after worship). Lunch will be provided, but RSVP is required. Please sign up below.
