GCCC Discipleship Framework
CHRIST:
Encountering Jesus – Our life with God begins when we place our trust in Jesus. Described in the Bible as being “born again” or becoming a “new creation,” this transformative experience is a result of God’s grace received through faith, marking the beginning of a life following Jesus.
Abiding in Christ – Our discipleship becomes fruitful as we learn to abide in Jesus Christ. This entails walking with Him by practicing spiritual disciplines like prayer, Bible reading and corporate worship. We at times refer to these as “rhythms of grace” or “rule of life.”
Loving His Word – Engaging in reading, meditating on, and studying God’s Word is essential to our discipleship. We believe that God’s Word has the transformative power to renew and reshape our lives.
COMMUNITY:
Growing Together – We believe discipleship doesn’t occur in isolation. Instead, we are called to collectively pursue and attain maturity together as the body of Christ.
Loving One Another – A crucial aspect of our discipleship involves learning to love one another, a command reiterated numerous times in the Bible. This practice is central to gospel shaped life, walking with Jesus and becoming like him.
Being Good Stewards – God has entrusted us with spiritual gifts, which are meant to bless others. Utilizing these gifts to love and serve others is an integral part of our discipleship journey.
CAUSE:
Doing Justice and Mercy – As disciples, we are called to live justly and show mercy. Through these actions, we display the life and values of God’s kingdom.
Reaching the Least Reached – We are called to make disciples of all nations. While some have easy access to the life-giving message of Christ, others lack this opportunity. Central to our mission is to bring the gospel to those who do not have access to it.
Blessing Practices – We are blessed to bless others. As disciples of Jesus, we intentionally choose to live a life that prays for those far from God, extend hospitality to others, and share the hope we have in Jesus.
